Mission Trip to Healing Hands Ranch

June 2011

A group from Lovers Lane UMC in Dallas, Texas and a group from Mission UMC in Fort Smith, Arkansas spent the week of July 13 - 17, 2012 working at Healing Hands Ranch in Texas. Above is the whole Team along with the folks at Healing Hands.

Dee from Mission United Methodist Church writes about the trip below:

"Wow, talk about an experience at HHR! We had the largest group ever to serve at HHR, 31 deaf, hard of hearing and hearing. All ages from 7 to 80, different physical abilities and races and all serving together. What a blessing it was to work beside each one.

"I have to give some special thanks to the ladies who helped me cook 3 meals a day for 35 to 40 people each day. Corrine and Dorothy you willingness to serve, rise and shine so early each day, and all with a smile and joy in your heart.....Thank you my sisters!

"Both teams from Lovers Lane in Dallas and Mission United here in Fort Smith really gave it their all, putting in a lot of long hot hours. Everyone will remember the Texas heat for years to come. But seeing the prayer garden come into being and being able to hold the Lord's supper on Friday before we left was a moving experience.

"So much was accomplished, fencing repaired and spray washed, a new path cut through the underbrush to the new prayer garden, 20 + acres mowed, replacement of flowers in the flower beds, a vegetable garden area started for fall planting, load after load of underbrush hauled away, trees that had fallen from the last hurricane cut and removed, and so much more.

"We look forward to serving again next year at HHR and pray if you didn't get to go this year you will put HHR on your list of "I gotta do" for next year."

Pictures below are a "Before" and "After" picture of Prayer Garden. Just to show how much work was done. Also there are lots and lots of pictures of the weeks activities. Those are being placed on a Photo Album Page that should be ready late Saturday or Sunday.
